The Miami Heat supposedly haven't cooled on the idea of adding Allen Iverson to next season's roster.

According to a report in Friday's Miami Herald, Heat president Pat Riley has reached out to the point guard to let him know there is "continued interest in [Iverson's] services."

In a phone call from Los Angeles earlier this week, Riley told reporters the Heat have no plans to add a player who would supplant second-year guard Mario Chalmers in the starting lineup. Riley also said he has some level of interest in free-agent guard Jamaal Tinsley.

To that end, it remains to be seen whether Iverson, the former MVP and four-time scoring champion who is an unrestricted free agent, would accept a role coming off the bench.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies also have expressed interest in Iverson, who played 54 games for the Detroit Pistons last season.

According to the Herald, Riley has told Iverson's advisers that they would hear from him soon and also asked that "before Iverson considers accepting any other offer, to please get back with him."
