Football Giants say bye to Plaxico

Giants released Plaxico Burress.

Giants GM Jerry Reese: "We hung in there as long as we could in hopes that there could be a resolution other than the one made today." The result isn't surprising. Speaking on NFL Network, Giants play-by-play man Bob Papa thought Burress' latest legal delay was not the deciding factor. He reports that Burress did not show the Giants he was willing to change his behavior. It couldn't hurt that Burress was filing a grievance against the team and was facing likely jail time and a league suspension. That will probably keep Burress out of the league in 2009. Domenik Hixon, Steve Smith, and Mario Manningham will all step up their playing time.

It's good to see teams finally letting go of these types of players...like the cowboys and TO now this. Hopefully for the best

I was hoping he would stick around and help give that Giants offense a SHOT in the leg....
