Former NBA star Jayson Williams is out of jail after an early morning arrest stemming from a fight outside a Raleigh nightclub.
Raleigh police said Monday that Williams was charged with one count of simple assault for punching someone in the face. Capt. T.L. Earnhardt says Williams was cooperative during the investigation and arrest.
Williams was released on $1,000 bond.
The 41-year-old is still facing retrial on a charge of reckless manslaughter in the 2002 death of his driver in New Jersey. He was convicted in 2004 of trying to cover up the shooting.
Last month, authorities in New York zapped Williams with a stun gun after a friend reported he was acting suicidal.
An attorney for Williams did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
