ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—The doors are open, and the price tag is in on the Cowboys’ new stadium.
Billed as a ribbon-cutting, Wednesday’s official opening was a bit more elaborate. Hundreds showed up to celebrate, including politicians and a bundle of former Cowboys.
Arlington Mayor Bob Cluck and team owner Jerry Jones did the honors, throwing a switch that set off fireworks and opened five huge glass sliding doors at one of the two end-zone plazas.
The team also unveiled the official price tag at $1.15 billion for the 80,000-seat stadium. That’s slightly higher than the long-presumed number of $1.1 billion.
The first event will be a George Strait-Reba McIntire concert June 6.
