Are there particular sets that you really liked when you were a kid?
I have a few strong memories of a few sets:
1. 1980 Topps Football -- probably the weakest set of the 80s, big rookie was Phil Simms, but this is where I started. the Archie Manning out of the set is still one of my favorite cards, my brother gave it to me when he decided he was too old for collecting, he was 12.
2. 1984 Topps Football, the greatest set of the decade, and maybe one of the greatest sets of all time, (Rookies of HOFs Marino, Elway, Dickerson, Green, Long, Tippett, Slater and great Saints Rookies Morten Andersen, Rickey Jackson and Jim Wilks) My best memory of getting these packs is when I went to go see the Natural with Robert Redford. Before the movie started me and my best friend at the time went and bought about 15 packs each at the K&B **** store. We opened them during the previews, I remember he pulled 2 Marino rookies, he traded 1 to me for my Walter Payton (the Bears were his favorite team).
3. 1985 Fleer Baseball - the first baseball set I collected since 1980. I bought so many packs of these trying to get a Dale Murphy. Did not end up getting a Murphy until like 1991 when I eventually built the set.
4. 1989 Pro Set -- I know it is worthless, but at the time people bought this and passed on the Score, because it was the Official NFL card, and I loved the 2nd Series with the Rookies in the College unis. I had 23 Barry Sanders at one time all from packs  Aikman was a tougher pull, but I had about 32 Deion Sanders as well.
5. 1987 Topps Baseball - do not ask me why but I loved this set. Fleer and Donruss were not readily available at the time in Ruston, LA so I built like 2 or 3 sets of 87 baseball, I remember I always had a trouble finding the Terry Pendletons to complete each set.
