Cleveland Browns rookie tailback James Davis was involved in a one-car collision Saturday morning at approximately 8 a.m. ET while driving to the team's practice facility, and he is now listed as questionable for Sunday's season debut against the Minnesota Vikings.
Davis was held at a Cleveland-area hospital for observations and released shortly after on Saturday. The team listed the ailment as a head injury, making his status up in the air Sunday.
The sixth-round pick from Clemson was one of the Browns' most exciting rookies in the preseason, averaging 7.8 yards on 24 carries. He led the team in rushing and worked his way into the rotation to spell starting tailback Jamal Lewis.
He was expected to be a part of Cleveland's game plan against the Vikings, the NFL's top defense against the run last season. The Browns could be thin at running back with Jerome Harrison also listed as questionable and Cedric Peerman doubtful on Cleveland coach Eric Mangini's injury report.
Browns starting left cornerback Eric Wright is also questionable against the Vikings with a knee injury. He was limited in practice Friday. If Wright can't play, Hank Poteat, who has made 18 career starts, will likely take his place.
The Browns also listed linebacker David Bowens and nose tackle Shaun Rogers as questionable. Linebacker Alex Hall and tight end Steve Heiden are probable.
