Alabama basketball rumors

Right now, the top two names are apparently Tom Izzo and Oliver Purnell.

Izzo is rumored because some think he's unhappy at Michigan State and he is close to two people in the Alabama Athletic Department (Saban and another guy in the AD we hired away from MSU in the last year or so). Don't buy it though.

Not too sure why Purnell pops up. However, if we hired him, we would be unstoppable in November and December....afterwords, not so much

The guys I'm still hoping for the most are Mike Anderson from Mizzou and Tubby Smith. Anderson may not get the job because folks on the Board of Trustees wouldn't want the job to go to a former UAB coach (BOT members serve for both Alabama and UAB :ban. The rumor is Smith turned us down.

People say we stumble and did so last year, but 10-6 is not stumbling. We did stumple this year, but I have confidence Purnell is working on it. We were projected to finish 5th and did that after losing 3 guys who had significant playing time in the past.

Izzo is not leaving MSU, where he has it made. Alabama would be a step down and unless Steve Mariucci become the HC over Saban, he will not be there.

No freaking way Tom Izzo comes to Alabama to play second fiddle to Nick Saban. Mike Anderson would be a GREAT hire.
