2021 Topps Japan Edition

I thought I'd share my ongoing obsession with the 2021 Topps Japan Edition Set. For those who may not know, it is a fairly straight-forward set - 220 base cards, 2 small simple insert sets, 5 color parallels (all numbered to 99 or less), rare autographs (all numbered less than 200 I believe), and very rare relics (numbered only to 10).

I've been accumulating as many parallels as I can of this set.

My current totals are (as of August 27, 2024):

96 Cherry Blossom (numbered to 99)
102 Jade Green (Numbered to 75)
55 Purple (Numbered to 50)
15 Gold (Numbered to 25)
1 Platinum (1/1) - Nelson Cruz
0 Red (Numbered to 5)
5 Autos - (5 of 30 total issued, all numbered to 200 or less)
273 TOTAL PARALLELS of 215 DIFFERENT PLAYERS in 220 card set. NEED 5 MORE FOR PARALLEL OF EVERY PLAYER.

My Original Post in this thread from Sept 2022:
To date, I have 24 Cherry Blossom parallels (numbered to 99), including the Pujols I got in the SCC Break and a Vlad Guerrero. Even though these are the highest numbered parallel, they are the most sought after.

I am still trying for a Jazz Chisholm (one of which sold last night on eBay for $395, I was short in my bid by about $380, ha).

I have 27 Jade Greens, numbered up to 75 - Tatis and Judge, being the tops


5 Golds, numbered to only 25:


15 Purples, numbered to 50


and 2 Autos - Mountcastle numbered to 175 and Arihara numbered to 200


If anyone comes across any of these, keep me in mind. I will get you something for whatever you can send me.

Since my original post in this thread, I have added some more of these Japan Edition parallels:

5 more Cherry Blossoms (numbered to 99) so I now have 29 of these. Newest ones include Dylan Carlson and Joey Bart


5 more Purples, numbered to 50, so I now have 20 purples


3 more Jade Green, numbered to 75, so I now have 30 Jade Greens


and I added a Bobby Dalbec auto (numbered to 200), which is my third auto from this set


So in total I now have 84 parallels on my quest for a parallel of every player in the set (there are 220 players in this set), all numbered 99 or less, plus 3 autos, numbered 200 or less (there are only 30 players with autos in the set)

If anyone has any of these parallels, I will gladly get you what you need in a trade.

I have picked up 9 more parallels from this 2021 Topps Japan Edition set since I last posted here so now have a total of 93 parallels in this 220-player set.

Got 4 more Cherry Blossoms (#/99) bringing my total number of Cherry Blossoms to 33. Was really happy to get a Rafael Devers which I have been chasing since this set was released.


Also added 1 purple (#'d to 50), so now have 25 Purples; 2 golds (#'d to 25), now have 7 Golds; and 2 more Jade Green, including Luis Robert, so now have 32 Jade Greens.


Looking forward to passing 100 parallels from this set soon!

I keep on adding to my Japan Edition parallels collection. In the past few weeks, I have added 12 more parallels and now have 105 parallels (all numbered under 100) in this set.

I have added 7 more Cherry Blossom parallels (numbered to 99) so now have Cherry Blossoms of 40 different players in this 220-card base set,


Best new one being this guy:


I added 4 more Jade Green parallels (numbered to 75), so now have Jade Greens of 36 different players - Yelich and Albies among the new ones


and I added 1 more Purple (numbered to 50), so now have 26 Purples of 26 players

After receiving a large lot of 2021 Topps Japan Edition parallels sent from Japan plus having recently picked up some singles, I am up to 169 parallels total. Since I have multiples of some players, I now have parallels (all numbered 99 or less) of 146 of the 220 players in the set. My quest is a parallel of every player, so I am 2/3 there.

Of the different parallels, I have:
Cherry Blossom (numbered to 99) - 19 new, for total of 59
Jade Green (Numbered to 75) - 32 new, for total of 58
Purple (Numbered to 50) - 11 new, for total of 37
Gold (Numbered to 25) - 2 new, for total of 9
Platinum (1/1) - Have 1 - Nelson Cruz
Red (Numbered to 5) - 0

Here's a photo of the newest ones - some decent players and RC in there - Cronenworth, Sam Huff, Giancarlo Stanton, DJ Lemahieu, Walker Buehler



And this is my favorite added recently - would've liked to have gotten a Mookie Cherry Blossom, but I'll take the Jade Green

You can buy hobby boxes through dealers in the US. You can find some now for about $60 + shipping. Each hobby box has 5-7 parallels and from what I have seen 1 out of every 4 boxes has an auto. There are only 20 players with autos in the set (I have 3) and all are numbered under 200. So there is just not a ton of this stuff made.

The 2022 Japan Edition is out now in Japan. Not sure when it will be available in the US, but I am not going "all-in" on the 2022.

So I am up to 176 parallels total. Since I have multiples of some players, I now have parallels (all numbered 99 or less) of 153 of the 220 players in the set. My quest is a parallel of every player, so I am 70% there.

Came across a nice lot of these 2021 Topps Japan parallels - 30 cards in the lot of which I needed 15.

So I am now up to 206 parallels in this set total. Since I have multiples of some players, I have parallels (all numbered 99 or less) of 168 different players in the 220 total players in the set. My quest is a parallel of every player, so I am 76% there.
