Upper Deck officials on Wednesday released preliminary product information and card images for 2009-10 Upper Deck Champ’s Hockey, the highly anticipated follow-up to one of last season’s most successful new products.
Last year, the product introduced such relatively radical hockey concepts as bones and fossils and the occasional Tiger Woods autograph. This year it promises even more off-the-wall collectibility, including Museum Pieces (more bones, more teeth) and cards featuring dinosaurs.
But it also includes a bevy of hardcore hockey gems – four mini autograph or memorabilia cards per box on average – that made the product a hit with purists last year, too.
The Mini Signatures checklist includes the likes of Alexander Ovechkin, LeBron James, Jarome Iginla, Sidney Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Dr. J, Bobby Orr, Steve Yzerman, John Tavares, Mr. Hockey, Carey Price, Martin Brodeur and Evander Kane;the projected Museum Pieces roster features Dinosaur Teeth, Golden Jurassic Amminites, Paradoxides Trilobite, Turtle Claw, Great White Shark Tooth, Giant Armadillo Claw, Woolly Mammoth Molar Tooth, Giant Capybara Molars, Aurochs Thoracic Vertibra, Wild Boar Fossil Teeth and more.
The average case break of the 2009-10 Upper Deck Champ’s, which releases in March, should deliver one Museum Pieces card, two Hall of Legends Sports Memorabilia cards, one to two mini rookie parallel cards, four regular-sized Animal Icon parallels and seven colored mini parallel cards.
