I understand that Topps is making it right to collectors, though how does Quality Control miss this?

Topps has announced that because of a production error in 2008 Topps Finest Football, the Base Autographed Rookie Cards are not sequentially numbered. Topps is offering to correct this error; send your base autographed rookie cards to Topps and each card will be numbered and have a 3M Authentication Sticker placed on the back.
