Upper Deck Covers All the Bases with its 2008 Baseball Heroes Launch

North Las Vegas, NV (August 11, 2008) – With a checklist that includes 200 of the most popular rookies, veterans and legends who have ever graced the baseball diamond, Upper Deck’s 2008 Baseball Heroes release is truly one for the ages. A star-studded lineup is further complimented by the popular “Baseball Heroes” design and an assortment of “Heroes” memorabilia and autographed cards that will no doubt leave collectors in awe.
With the MLB season now coming down to its final month of the regular-season, who would have guessed that the Tampa Bay Rays would be outdistancing the Red Sox and Yankees in the vaunted A.L. East or that both Chicago clubs (Cubs and White Sox) would be leading their respective divisions?
“Since the ‘90s, ‘Baseball Heroes’ has been one of Upper Deck’s most popular sets so we’re very excited about this year’s launch,” said Jason Masherah, Upper Deck’s senior brand manager. “We’ve added some of the best names in baseball – past and present – so that collectors can find autographed and memorabilia cards of many of baseball greatest players ever.”
The outstanding autographed lineup includes such up-and-comers as Josh Hamilton and Ian Kennedy, along with proven vets like Ken Griffey Jr., John Lackey, Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Matt Kemp. It also sports the likes of Hall-of-Famers such as Carl Yastrzemski, Johnny Bench, Ernie Banks, Robin Yount, Ozzie Smith and Bob Gibson.
