Whats with the football swatch on the young?

There's another Playoff release with a section of that ball & a pic of it before it was cut up. Story was (i think) it was a game ball given to him after it was painted on one panel by someone. How Playoff got it idk, but if I ever spot that card with the pic on the back I want to pic one up & maybe see what part of the ball mine came from.
