It's looking like the Cardinals may advance again. I like Leyland, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Red Sox. That said, I've kinda lost interest in the playoffs at this point. Just waiting for the news that the Braves have traded for Price so next year can be more promising.

I continue to find myself gravitating from baseball and hockey to the NFL. I don't mind that much that there has been an increased emphasis on safety. NFL Sunday still beats the other major sports by a long shot.

Well, unfortunately that is it for the Braves. They are loaded with young talent and should compete for the post-season for years to come, but they just seem to lack that middle of the line-up presence like they had with Chipper Jones, or Terry Pendelton, or Dale Murphy. Maybe Freddie Freeman...

That's my point. It makes no sense. Any maybe it's just some coincidence, but just look back at schedules from the last few years and you'll see the AZ still opens A LOT on the road. There is not heat risk at all at this point, but AZ is still NEVER one of those teams that opens with 2 home...

I've enjoyed the season so far, admittedly largely because my team (Cardinals) still hasn't ruined their season. Yet! I like the fact that the NFL always has a surprise or two. When my Cards or 2-6 I'll be hating this season as well.

Good point. Plus, he is definitely a strong enough football player to be in the game somewhere. I saw KISS the first time live in 1977. I had just turned eight. Dated myself, I realize but I still have great memories of those times.

I agree, thajayz. But I'm afraid when the last team in finally wins one is when all heck will break lose. I'm actually starting to see some of baseball's best writers address the issue. I just don't remember any noise last year when a team so far behind got in because of the change. I hate it.

I still think this is a good idea. I was a massive KISS fan growing up and I don't doubt they will put out an entertaining product in LA. Tebow and Simmons seem like an odd pairing. Good thing Gene likes making money more than he hates in-you-face evangelicalism.

I would have loved to be able to watch Clemente play in his prime. What a graceful athlete and what a wonderful man. It doesn't seem that enough of them exist in the game today.

I take that back, the six teams with a .500 record or better would be the playoff teams. And, again, what helps the Cardinals is they are one of those 6 teams and have 7 of their final 12 games at home, where they have already beaten the Lions. Just Saying!

Good re-cap. The NFC is by far the most screwy, partly because they are losing their head to head games with the AFC. Only four teams in the NFC even have a winning record! Heck, only two other teams are even .500! That obviously will change when a more divisional-heavy schedule kicks in...
