What is it called when you do something (while it is loegal) and it then becomes illegal and you are still charged with the crime?


Follow up: I am pretty sure this cannot happen in the US, but is it legal to do that in the US.

That's the typical mechanism of protecting somebody from laws created after the fact, with the general policy being that someone needs to have notice of the illegality of their actions before they can be punished for it.
