Bench Warmer
...that is the question.

My aunt found this good size box in the attic that my Uncle left behind after we lost him in September. She thinks he forgot about the box, and here's why. There was a lot of vintage, 4 sport cards. I went through this box and these stood out.

1970 Johnny Unitas
1971 Johnny Unitas
1972 Johnny Unitas

72/73 Julius Erving RC x2

1970 Pete Rose
1970 Nolan Ryan
1971 Thurman Munson
1971 Nolan Ryan (off center)
1971 Pete Rose
1971 Steve Garvey RC
1975 Robin Yount RC

My question is should I take the time to grade some of these? I would need to convince my aunt, as she only wants the money and doesn't really care how much. Somebody suggested it to me, so that's why I'm asking. Also, the plan was to sell these at a garage sale in about two weeks.

I'm also willing to say that these cards are all in pretty good shape and would say raw 7 to 8 for each of them.

scans? wow man that is some amazing stuff... and you KNOW with that older stuff a slight change in grade is HUGE money !

My aunt doesn't own a computer, and something about not trusting me with them, so no scans. I'm going to talk to her I think tonight, but I guess I don't really know what to grade from those sets. Anything with a $50+ BV?

lol she doesnt trust you with them? LOL wow... that is hardcore lol

I would be all over Grading the DR J Rc's

judgement call...if you think they are worthy of grading, condition wise, i would do it, but thats just me.

Well, we both know that I would be heavily tempted to keep something for myself. ;) I didn't really look into the basketball that much, but saw Larry Brown and Havlicek for sure. I do think they were all 71/72 or 72/73 cards.

Is there anybody else from those sets worth the time to look for? I'm planning on organizing everything by year/card # eventually, but my aunt thinks that by name would be better.

Like I said, I think they would all get 7's or 8's, but I don't have that grading eye.

Good news, another box of stuff has been found! I haven't got to look at it, but I've been told that these cards are probably older than the ones previously mentioned.

I'd also like to thank Ground Support who has agreed to be my grader's eye and determine if the cards are worth grading. Thanks Josh!
