So I finally went to the doctor

about my ankle 2 months after I hurt it. I was hoping to get rid of 1 of the 2 senarios as to why my ankle is still swollen.

1. Ligament Damage
2. Fracture

I can't afford an MRI so I went to try and elliminate #2...

turns out both are correct.

I have had a crack in my ankle this whole time. It was very minor and the doctor said by sitting out for two weeks when it happened, it gave me just enought time for it to start healing itself. Shaun was out 6 games, I missed 2...:pop:

As for the ligamnet damage, there is no fixing it while I continue to play. The only way the doc said it would heal was if I stopped for 4-6 weeks. Ummmmmmm, yeah its the playoffs now...not gonna happen. So I'll wait until the season is over to allow the ligaments to totally heal. Doc said as long as it isn't getting worse, I'm ok.

Dang! Since you hadn't said anything about this, I assumed you were OK. Take it easy with that stuff.

Let me tell ya what happens with broken bones in joints that you don't take care of. When I was a teenager in the early 80's, I was Ms. Wild-n-crazy, and I don't remember if it was slam-dancing, stage-diving, getting in fights, falling over :drunk:, or one of a dozen other things, but at some point I broke my left wrist. It hurt for a while, then over time it 'sort of' got better. Well, fast forward to 2000, and I am in an operating room having that same bone extracted, and the rest of the bones in my wrist being fused together with a little metal plate. Turns out that the bone never healed right, and over time had disintegrated to the point that the doc told me it "crumbled like a piece of chalk" when he took it out.

Take care of that, OK? :salut: I wanna hear about the KC Jags making thisa DYNASTY!

hope you feel better and get better

you should be glad the doc didn't say you needed to come home, but your foot above your head and watch tv for 2 weeks. it's rough when that happens:lollol::lollol:

I went to a sports doctor, otherwise I probably would have gotten the same advice you did. I picked his brain for about an hour (well worth my $15) and found out alot about rehabbing it on my own.

One thing he said 3 or 4 times though was:

As long as it never gets worse feeling, you will be ok (eventually). If you push it too far and it regresses, you will not like the result.

I'm not running stairs anymore...
