seems like a very odd move to me...the Pats have what could easily be argued as having the best Tight End group in the league...obviously Gronk is a beast, Aaron Hernandez was very sharp when healthy, and not many teams pack 3 tight ends...sure Gronk is coming off of surgery, but he just got a HUGE contract extention...

sure, the Giants went TE by committe last year with Ballard, Beckum, and someone else, all of whom were injured in the Super Bowl...not sure what the current Giants TE situation is, or what 'big' TEs are even on the market...not that there are that many 'impact' TEs out there to begin with...

I think teams that do alot of two TE sets carry at least three. I know when the Seahawks were having tons of injuries up front, they were forced into two TE sets to protect and if I recall correctly, we were carrying four TE's.

either way, it puts them at 6 TEs on the roster...its not like hes a 'camp body' as he is gimpy and likely to be on PUP to start the season
