I saw a special on this incident (real sports or some other HBO thing I believe), and it was just a terrible situation all around. For the original trial, every single member, except maybe on or two, were white and it was pretty clear they resented the kid.
If everyone who did this got arrested for 10 years, there wouldn't be close to enough jail cells to go around.

The worst thing is this - that kid's life is f'd once he does get out. He will have to register as a sex offender (even though in my eyes, he's not a sex offender). He's now a convicted felon, and in my eyes, he's just guilty of some bad judgement but definitely not a felony.

up here you can damn near do anything, minus sex with the persons dog or cat, and as long as you are within 3 yrs of age of the person, it's legal

Thats like a case I heard about awhile back......

Its been awhile so specific details might be a bit fuzzy..

Girl is 18, guy is 16 or 17....Theyre hanging out with another couple. Theyre all out at "makeout point" type of place. Two guys tell the girls lets all get in the back and "get down". The 18yr girl with the 16-17yr old guy says ok and the other girl leaves.

After SEVERAL minutes of "getting down", the 18yr old girl decided to say no and wanted to stop. The 16-17yr old guy didnt stop for another 5 secs claiming he didnt hear her or wasnt sure he heard her correct.


A jury convicted him of rape and sentenced him to prison and if he was to ever get out again, he's a convicted felon and will now have to register as a sex offender.
