Well I figured I'd just tell everyone at once, like i did at my job.
My mom had a biopsy done on her lymphnodes yesterday to see if the cancer has spread; and possibly spread to other organs, and the test shows that it was positive for cancer in the lymph nodes. the doc removed a lot of the lymph nodes surrounding where she tested and she sent them to pathology to be tested further. but they did a "disection" to get them out. originally they were just gonna test one of the lymphnodes but once they saw it was cancerous they opened her up and removed them. the cancer cluster in her breast is the size of a small lime right now. so with the test we went from stage 2 cancer to stage 3. (stage 4 being the end)
the doc sounds positive that it can be beat with chemo and radiation treatments to reduce the size of it and than they will remove it and another round of chemo should kill the remaining cells.
i have never felt so helpless than i did yesterday. i heard what the doc said and thankfully i kept listening because my dad drew a blank. my parents were high school sweethearts and they have known each other for 50 yrs, so obviously my dad doesn't picture life without her. i've sort of been the spokesperson for them because i listen and ask questions while they are drawing a blank.
i appreciate everyone's patience with me while i seem out of it and all.
your thoughts and prayers are appreciated
