Joe Torre to manage Dodgers

Bench Warmer
It's all but official.

I have nothing against Grady Little as a person. He seems like a great guy and he's definitely a player's coach. He isn't the best tactician, though. Did he deserve to be fired? No. But when you can replace him with a first-ballot HOF manager in Joe Torre, it has to be done. Not to mention the turmoil in the clubhouse toward the end of the season.

I really like this hire. I also like the prospect of Don Mattingly coming to LA to be one of Torre's bench coaches. This is also an added incentive for Alex Rodriguez to consider the Dodgers.

This situation should have been handled better, though. Grady Little got shafted. Ned Colletti isn't a great GM and Frank McCourt isn't a great owner when it comes to these things. Little deserved better.

That being said, I'm glad the Dodgers are hiring Torre to manage the team.
