Home improvement project gone terribly wrong...

So, last night I decided to paint the threshold for the double doors that lead to our deck. All was going well until I picked up the small paint can to move down and finish up the other side. That is when the paint can slipped out of my hands and fell onto my deck upside down. :( :( :( :(

Now I have a huge white spot on my wood deck with splatters all around it. I suck. :(

oops. Clean it up sooner rather than later.

I tried to clean it up last night when it was wet but just spread it around further. I tried to wash it off with my hose and that just spread it further. Going to try some paint remover today. If not, I'm going ot have to power wash, sand and restain the whole deck. :( I didn't think I would have to do that until next year. :(

Let me know how you make out. You will have so much experience at removing paint from a deck you can come get a couple paint stains out of my deck.:D

Just got back form Lowes. Bought some Goof Off stuff that the guy recommended. Tried it on a very small area and it seems to work but it ain't easy. Spill is about 1 ft by 2 ft. Should be a long day or scrubbing and scraping for me. :(

that really sucks Rob, if i woulda known about this sooner I would have told you to mix dish soap and water on the deck, that cleans it up. be careful with goof off cause it can take off any color you have on the deck and any remaining stain on the deck too,.

i just hope he didn't glue the doors to the threshold because paint does have a bit of glue in it, it's what makes it stick

I am still not sure how to do it. I think you have to take about an hour and half drive and come show me how it works. :D ;) :lollol:

Yes, the Goof Off is taking everythign off but the deck is very old needs to be scraped and restained anyway. that will get done next spring.

If you aren't worried about the finish, I would just get a jar of stripper gel, swoosh it over the area, and ten minutes later, scrape it off with a putty knife. Then pick up a can of deck waterproofing and brush it over the area to protect it until your next refinishing.
