Upper Deck and USA Baseball Help Sports Enthusiasts Invest In Their Passion

Two new products provide strong potential for baseball fans

North Las Vegas, Nevada (June 9, 2008) – With a struggling economy and gas prices at record highs, many collectors are looking to the future. With the first day of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft in the books, it’s an exciting time for collectors to add the prospects from USA Baseball found exclusively in Upper Deck products to their collection. The new USA Baseball Box Set and 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball are both loaded with content of these future stars.

One collector who enjoys chasing down the highly collectible USA Baseball cards is J.P. Schwartz of Springfield, Illinois. “The USA Baseball players are a diverse collection of young prospects and this is every collector’s opportunity to own their cards before there are any of them with their MLB teams,” Schwartz explained. “They have legitimate shots at becoming very talented players in the Major Leagues in the coming years. I love the thrill of pulling the rare Upper Deck game-used and autograph cards of these players as well.”

“The upside on many of these players is very high with some having the potential to become franchise players for big market teams,” said Steven Judd, Upper Deck Product manager for Baseball. “By collecting their cards now, it affords collectors the unique ability to purchase while the market is low, before they become stars. It really can become an investment opportunity for baseball fans.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Upper Deck again on the USA Baseball Box Set,” says David Perkins, USA Baseball Chief Operating Officer. “We look forward to bringing USA Baseball alumni to collectors world-wide through the set and all-new game-used and autographed cards as well.”
