In a move that will probably come as no surprise to anyone in the hobby, Fanatics has finalized (or will finalize tomorrow) a deal to acquire Topps. After Fanatics got the exclusive from the MLB in August, this just means that Fanatics will now have the exclusive agreement, as part of their ownership of Topps, and will be able to begin printing cards as early as tomorrow.

This is good news for baseball collectors, who some thought this might be the end of the Topps brand, which is probably the most recognizable brand in all of sports cards, but most certainly in the baseball collecting world.

I'd suspect to see Fanatics turn their attention to Panini next, in an effort to acquire at least some of their brands.

Think Panini is next?
