Hopefully we'll see some nice Christmas gifts opened up by our fellow members this month. I'd like to see something simply astonishing entered into this contest this month.

Here's how it works.

  • All cards nominated must have been obtained within the month they're being nominated for, or within the last 48 hours.
  • Members can nominate their own cards, or other member's cards.
  • There must be a scan of the card, on TCZ, that is being nominated.
  • You can either post the scan directly in this thread or post a link to the thread, on TCZ, where the card is shown.
  • At the end of the month, the TCZ team will determine which cards (maximum of 10) will be added to the poll to be voted on.
  • Each member will be held to only 2 nominees per month for the final voting. Members can still nominate as many as they want throughout the month then that member will have to let me know which 2 cards that they would like to go to the vote.
  • All winners will be automatically nominated for the Card of The Year contest, during the 2014 TCZ Awards, where there will be prizes given to the winners.

While this card is not incredibly rare (15/99) I am submitting this for emotional reasons.

Jean Beliveau was my sports idol. I grew up in the Montreal area and was (and still am) a big Canadiens fan. He was the definition of class, and represented everything that was good about sports.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at a card show in 1990, and told him he was my favorite player growing up. He stood up, shook my hand and said "Thank you for being a fan". Even though I was 34 at the time, he made me feel like a 10 year-old kid again!

I received this card as a replacement from Panini about a month ago. Little did I realize that only a couple of weeks later, he would leave us. Prior to this, I cannot remember the last time I cried at the passing of someone who was not family, but I am not ashamed to admit that I did that day.

R.I.P and Thank You, Le Gros Bill!

If anyone hasn't seen it, here is a link to the Canadiens tribute to him. You can see how much he meant to the city of Montreal, the province of Quebec and the country of Canada.
