Finally some good news is coming out of this whole cheating debacle! Goldin Auctions has one of the 2017 Houston Astros Word Series rings up for sale and 100% of the proceeds will go to help benefit COVID-19 related causes.

The ring will come with authenticity documentation, along with the original display case.

According to the accompanying documents, this ring was originally presented to former Astros scout, David Brito, who sold it to the current owner. The ring has an estimated insurance replacement value of $17,400, according to an accompanying appraisal. Also, at the time of that appraisal, the price of gold was quite a bit lower than the current price.

The new owner of the ring, as well as Goldin Auctions, have pledged to donate 100% of their net profits and 100% of the buyer's premium, respectively, to the CAMCare Foundation for COVID-19 related causes at New Jersey's Cooper Hospital and for PPE at CAMCare health centers.

At the time of this post, with just over 26 days left in the auction, it's already reached a bid of $7,500 with 4 total bids.

Here are a few images of the ring, along with one of the display case. It is a beauty!

I am mildly surprised this did not end up on the All-In challenge.

I have a feeling there will be more sold, so maybe we will see one on there at some point. That'd be neat to get one of these rings for a $10 donation.

Welp, so much for this little bit of charity. The Houston Astros had the auction stopped. According to the Astros, the original owner, David Brito, supposedly signed an agreement with the team to sell the ring back to them for $1. So Goldin Auctions has cancelled the auction and will be sending the ring back to the consigner.
