I have not been buying much lately but in a trip to Wal-Mart I decided to pick up a couple of "Value" packs of the new issue from Bowman. As usual with Bowman, I like the clean design but there continues to be entirely too many variation cards in the set. Each value pack contains 3 hobby packs and 3 special issue purple variations of the prospects in the set. So here is a quick review of this set.

First there are 220 in the base set with an extra 110 prospect set. Each hobby pack contains 2 chrome variations from the prospect set. Each base card has 9 color variations plus a Hometown variation while each chrome also has 9 variations.

Here is one of the base cards and one of the chrome

Next I did get 1 paper color variation, a blue Tyler Skaggs 419/500 and one Purple Chrome of Jacob DeGrom 185/199

Also got one Hometown card of Kevin Pillar

Also this year they have returned with the minis of the top prospects of each team (each has 7 variations). I received the base of D.J. Edwards and a Purple of Bubba Starling 93/99.

Other subsets include the "Top 100 Prospects" and the "1989 Bowman is Back" sets. There are several variations of autographs, all on-card! The top autograph card is the first autographs of this years young Cuban phenom, Jose Abreu.

This one sold for $180.00 with a Black refractor numbered to 99 going for $464.00!

Another card of note is a super short print of Russell Wilson

The last one that sold on eBay went $475!

Those are nice looking cards. Baseball has a lot of those simple designs that are nice looking cards. Big pictures and very little "flash". I can't believe that Russell Wilson goes for that much, but I'm sure it's just because he's in a Rangers uniform. :D

The Wilson is suppose to be 1:33 cases and would be a great way for you to really get your Rangers PC moving!
