The Gone But Not Forgotten Thread

Loved him in The Terminator

I remembered him in 2 and 3, but forgot he was also in the original and in archive footage in Dark Fate (Terminator 6). Sarah roughed him up pretty good in 2!!

With a heavy heart I report the death of Lisa Marie Presley at age 54. As Elvis and Priscilla's only daughter, she was the Memphis Princess and the heir to perhaps the most famous and enduring musical Legacy of the 20th century.

And Lisa as an adult, bearing what I always thought was a striking resemblance to her father:

While I just saw this today, I was saddened to see that Dr. Ted Savage passed away on the 12th at 85 years old. I spent a very memorable morning with Ted about 11 years ago at Cardinals Winter Warmup. I walked outside since it was extremely stuffy inside, and Ted was outside having a smoke, and 4 or 5 other people were talking to him. Those folks went their separate ways, and I stayed and talked to Ted. We then walked back inside, since he had to get upstairs for his signing time about 30 minutes later. We sat in the lobby and talked for the whole time, just about baseball, family, life, whatever came up. People recognized him and stopped over to say hello, ask him to sign things, which he graciously did. He then had an usher come up to him and let him know they were ready for him upstairs, and he couldnt find his reading glasses, which I helped him locate. He was wearing a suit jacket over his dress shirt and jeans, and emptied his pockets, handing me all the stuff he had in them, and finally, in the inside pocket of his suit jacket, were his glasses! He then thanked me, took his stuff back, and asked me if I wanted to take the VIP elevator upstairs with him, which I did, and we parted ways as he headed out to a round of applause at his signing time. An usher than walked me to a back staircase, and heading down, I passed Mark McGwire of all people, who was there that year. I did not get Mark to sign anything since he briefly made eye contact with me, and we shook hands just in passing, but he definitely didnt want to be bothered. It struck me how genuine and friendly Ted was, spending a ton of time with a guy he had just met, and giving me a memory I will always treasure! Rest in Peace Ted, you are a true gentleman.

For sure, not a household name, but a real classy man, who earned his PHD in urban studies, and worked for the Cardinals for 25 years in their community relations department, which was appropriate for someone so friendly!

Another great American passed, December 9th, but I only learned of his passing today. Col. Joe Kittinger was the first man in space, skydiving from the stratosphere in 1960! Here are 2 items he signed for my son!

And I just saw that David Crosby passed, the mustachioed and brilliant musician from Crosby Stills Nash and Young, playing for decades, at Woodstock and so many other venues. David is in the Rock Hall twice, with CSNY and The Byrds, both of which he founded!

Here is an AMAZING version of one of his most famous songs, and my personal favorite.....Suite Judy Blue Eyes!

I missed this on the 17th, Chris Ford, Boston Celtics player and longtime assistant and head coach, passed away at age 74.

Chris hit the first 3 pointer in NBA history in 1979, and later won the 1981 NBA Championship with 4 out of 5 starters who are now HOFers: Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Nate Archibald, and Robert Parish, and Cedric Maxwell as 6th man, another potential HOF caliber player.

Chris later won the 84 and 86 Championships with the Celtics as assistant coach under K.C. Jones, and then went on to coach his beloved Celtics in the 90s.
