I missed this when it first aired and am just reading through it now.

Beckett had this article on their home page to promote their grading services and the massive haul of Gretzky rc's just brought in by a single customer:

http://blogbeckett.wordpress.com/2007/11/16/270-gretzky-rookies-walked-in-the-front-door/

They pulled the article immediately off the front page when collectors started an uproar over how these cards were simply unprotected and fanned out across a table. As you can see by the comments in there, initially it was a promo shot as the cards just came in. Then people started question their methods and a Beckett rep says the cards had already been graded and were simply set up for the photo shoot prior to being sent in for slabbing.

This brought up more questions about the handling between grading and slabbing, but to me raises a bigger question:

If they've already been graded how the heck do they know which one received which grade? The cards aren't even in soft sleeves to put a sticker on the back or something....

Opinions on this? Beckett isn't even allowing the topic to be discussed on the message board without locks and suspensions....

didnt need to read the article to know they are idiots...remember they withstand a hurricane :lollol:

:roflmao:

I heard this weekend from someone (hell maybe here ) that Beckett's son who works there is also owns the largest chain of card stores in the state? Wonder what kind of grading results they get  Not sure if true or not but damn.

Beckett added this neatly tucked away from the Hobby Talk section :

As someone else stated....should have just used this:
