Teach us the ways.

Do you need a scale?

Can you print it on Plain Paper? Then cover w/clear packing tape on mailer.

Can you ship from USA to Canada or other Countries?

How easy (or hard) is it to use & or set-up?

Ant tips for those that want to give it a whirl?

Thanks

Hey I use paypal shipping all the time; and i love it. Very easy to use. Yes you prob need a scale. I bought a cheapie for 20 bucks at my local office max. I have never used it to ship internationally so I dont know. Very easy to set up if you already accept paypal. Yes you can use regular paper and just tape it to a bubble mailer. I hope that helps...if ya have any questions feel free to ask.

I use it to ship cards when something is paid through Paypal, however I have yet to figure out if you can use it when something is not paid through Paypal.

You will need a scale.

You can use plain paper if you want, or you can buy special special shipping labels where the back is sticky. I find this a lot easier than wasting a bunch of tape. If you do use tape, don't tape over the bar codes.

I only use it to ship within USA, it is too complicated to ship other places. Since Canada doesn't support the D/C, and needs a special form to ship overseas it is just easier to go to the Post Office.

On the Paypal transaction page, you just click print postage. Fill in the weight, item type. For the most part if you are shipping a bubble envelop you will select 'Large Package' since anything over 3/4 inch is considered a large package and you need over 3/4 inch to ship with D/C. Just follow the steps and you can then print it out. You can reprint the label or cancel it with 24-48? hours if you need to.

It's quick, easy, and only costs .18 cents for D/C.

:clap:Oh I also use it on some trades. Basically if I make a trade with someone I ask them if they can send me 1 penny via paypal. I send them one penny as well. Then we can both ship via paypal and take advantage of the cheaper delivery confirmation.

Also i like paypal shipping cause once u put the label on you dont have to go to the post office....just drop it in your mailbox

I've thought about doing this myself. I don't think you can use the Paypal shipping otherwise.

For items sold through Paypal, it's a great convenience, since you just leave the packages for the mail carrier to pick up, or drop them in any mailbox.

As for the scale, I don't have one, so it limits me to using the service just for cards. I use 1 oz. per card as a guideline and it seems to work. If it's a thicker card, like a Patch, Sweet Spot auto, I use 2 oz.

For international delivery, you need a Declarations form 2976-A. If you go to the USPS web site, you can order them for free, and they will ship them to your house. I got a bunch on hand just in case, but I haven't used them yet. They send them along with a 6"x 9" clear, sticky-backed plastic envelope that you use to attach the customs form to your package. So you have to use a much bigger bubble mailer for one card. I guess you'd put the postage on one side and the customs form on the other.

On the envelope, it lists the following services that the form can be used for:

Express Mail
Priority Mail
Global Express Guaranteed
Global Express Mail
Global Priority Mail
Global Airmail
Parcel Post
Global Economy

Hope this helps.

paypal shipping has saved me lots of money selling and also alot of headaches with delivery confirmation. I actually save time doing it myself rather than going to the post office which usually have lines.

THe international feature on paypal is limited because if you go to the post office and use global air mail i dont believe you need customs forms. I use the electronic do it yourself postage service at my local post office for international. If i need to do one of the speedier services or more documented services then I'll actually use the paypal shipping because they give you the options to spend alot of money. ;)

Paypal shipping is good but if you dont need to send with delivery confirmation then you can save money by going to the post office since one card bubble mailer is under 3/4 inch think. Paypal forces you to use the highest service since it assumes your item will be thicker than 3/4inch and therefore forces you to use delivery confirmation at a minimum.

I personally just use paypal and offer 'free d/c' in my auctions as a selling point :) but in reality i'm forced to use d/c because i want to use the paypal shipping.

Some post offices dont really understand the new postage rules so sometimes its just best to d/c everything make your bubble mailers 3/4 inch thick and get stuck in the behind by the fees. THe last thing you want is someone stating they had to pay extra fees to get their item from the PO.

The scale is important but its more important to make sure the postage is correct using a PO scale. I recently had someone tell me they had an postage due slip $0.10-$0.25 something like that (gave me a neutral feedback too without giving me a chance to even speak). The PO scale weighed it at 1 ounce and so did mine but another scale weighed it slightly more than 1 ounce I assume. So now on for anything exactly 1 ounce, i just make it 2 ounces. Its not much more. The big jump is from using the service where you can use D/C compared to the service where you cant.
