Hot Pack ?

So I was on youtube and I saw a few videos on searching packs for hits. Im for one am torn on this process. I feel like if your going to buy something u have the right to make a selection of your choice by examining the product. Heck people do it every day in the grociery isles. Then I also would feel guilty because a kid could be looking forward to buying a pack with his allowance and when he bought a pack it wouldnt have a hit and I just scared his moment in card collecting. I saw my sons face when he pulled his first Jersey card (Ryan Tannehill topps Archive). He was so excited and it was magical. So I thought to myself I wouldnt search through packs I would just grab what I want and just go with it. Needless to say I was still curious on how it works so last week I bought 5 Hot packs from different style packs. Today I just recieved 2013 score Hot Pack and got a Morris Claiborne future franchise relic card. I dont know the process on how they do it but Im happy with it. Now with that said will I only buy Hot Packs from now on? the answer is.......NO. As collectors you guys know its the gamble on whats inside the pack, the box,the case. That drives us to collect more. I wrote this post becsause I know its a touchy issue and would love to know how you feel about it. Please dont pm me nasty messages though.

I purchased the hot packs from EBAY (I didnt post That Sorry) from 5-10 bucks per.

Some of those Ebay "HOT" packs are repacks. I don't know the process but there are some slimeball dealers who claim to be selling a hot pack but they really aren't. I think most of the sellers though sell them to try to get the most $$ they can out of them.

I am not big on the "Hot Pack" idea either, most of them are re-packs and will contain either a jersey or a low end auto and that is how some people get rid of their "junk" cards. What I did to help my step-son get started with some nicer cards is to buy a couple of packs with guaranteed hits from the manufacturer, such as Totally Certified or Momentum. These packs are generally about 15-25 dollars and have a better shot at pulling a truly nice card.
